No trade for Celtics, who use four draft picks

After Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge dealt his way to getting four picks Thursday, speculation was rampant he would deal some of those picks to move up. But no other teams bit, apparently, and the Celtics wound up drafting three guards and a forward over two rounds.

With the 16th pick, the Boston Celtics took Louisville guard Terry Rozier to add to a backcourt that includes Avery Bradley, Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart. Rozier averaged 17.1 points last year and was projected to go toward the end of the first round.

His draft profile at NBA.com lists the 6-2, 190-pound Rozier as a "ball-hawking defender" and a good rebounder.

Given another first-round pick at No. 28, the Celtics grabbed shooting guard R.J. Hunter of Georgia State. The 6-6, 185-pound Hunter, considered a smart player and "potential game-breaking shooter," according to NBA.com, played for his father, Ron, at Georgia State. R.J. cemented a place in NCAA men's basketball tournament lore by leading the 14th-seeded Panthers to an upset of No. 3 Baylor this year. Hunter scored 12 of his team's 13 points as they rallied from a double-digit deficit in the final three minutes to win, 57-56. Hunter's 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds left proved to be the winning basket.

The Celtics went for some size with their first pick in the second round, grabbing power forward Jordan Mickey of Louisiana State. Mickey, at 6-8, 235, is viewed as a great athlete and shot-blocker, but is also considered too small to match up with NBA power forwards, according to NBA.com.

With their final pick at No. 45, the Celtics took point guard Marcus Thornton of William & Mary. The 6-3, 190-pound Thornton had a great showing at pre-draft workouts, but like Rozier and Hunter, where he fits in to the crowded Celtics' backcourt is another matter.
