Mountain Dew race series headed to NH

Mountain Dew’s Vertical Challenge Race Series will make a handful of New Hampshire slope stops in February and March.

A visit to skiverticalchallenge.com lists: Cannon Mountain in Franconia Friday; Pats Peak in Henniker Sunday; Mount Sunapee on Tuesday, Feb. 16; Cranmore Mountain in North Conway Sunday, March 6, and King Pine in Madison Saturday, March 19.

“The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge event is always a fun time for skiers and riders of all ages and abilities,” said Jim Wall, events director at Pat’s Peak. “Due to the event (at Pats Peak) being on the same day at the big football game, we plan to get in the race, enjoy the Vertical Awards party and then everyone can get home in time” for the Super Bowl.

The Vertical Challenge is in its 26th anniversary season. It is a series of free casual ski and snowboard races held on mountains throughout the northeast during each winter season. Skiers and snowboarders are divided by gender and age group to compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals in each category.
