Corrections officers vote to join Teamsters Local 633

June 27. 2016 11:16PM

KEENE — Corrections officers at the Cheshire County House of Corrections have voted to join Teamsters Local 633, Teamsters officials said Monday.

“These men and women chose a difficult vocation and deserve the respect and support of the county, which we will ensure through collective bargaining,” said David Laughton, secretary-treasurer of Teamsters Join county 10 and Local 633.

Laughton stressed that Local 633 has been representing police and corrections officers for decades, and its legal counsel is a former corrections officer.

A Teamsters news release said the election was conducted by the state Public Employee Labor Relations Board, but did not say when. It said the vote was overwhelming, but did not give specifics.
