July 10. 2016 11:47AM

CONCORD — A squirrel knocked out power to about 1,700 homes and businesses in the greater Concord area on Sunday morning, according to Unitil.

The last 500 affected customers in Bow should see their power restored by 12:45 p.m., according to the utility.

Unitil spokeswoman Carol Valianti said “the squirrel caused damage to a transformer, which led to the large number out of power.”

The outage began at 7:39 a.m. with 812 customers restored at 9 a.m., she said. Another 400 customers had power back on around 10 a.m.
