New owner plans renovation at Maple Tree Mall
MANCHESTER — The Maple Tree Mall is in line for a facelift.
A Massachusetts firm bought the North End strip mall for $4 million.
“We’ll renovate it to bring it into the current century,” said Aubrey Cannuscio, partner of acquisitions for Linear Retail Properties, LLC of Burlington, Mass.
A “significant amount” of money will be invested to make improvements to the mall’s facade, signage, lighting and parking lot, he said Thursday.
“Invest capital to entice new retailers to come to the neighborhood,” he said.
About half of the 51,000 square feet of retail space is vacant, he said.
“I think there’s been chronic vacancy at the center for an extended amount of time,” he said.
The mall at 535-555 Hooksett Road includes La Carreta Mexican Restaurant and Papa Gino’s.
The new owner won over Mel Duris, store manager at Salon Centric, which sells salon and beauty supplies wholesale.
“They sound like a great company,” Duris said. “The plans that they went over with us sound amazing to get a little facelift ... and attract more business.”
The mall, which previously housed Tinker’s Seafood, “could definitely use more people,” she said.
Linear Retail Properties owns about 85 retail properties, including about a dozen in New Hampshire.
Holdings include a South Willow Street strip mall containing Chipolte Mexican Grill as well as eight properties in Nashua, two in Salem and one in Hampton.
