High School Roundup: Bedford Boys prevail in Div. I skiing championship


Profile of Bethlehem edged Derryfield School of Manchester by four points to take home the NHIAA Division IV boys’ Alpine skiing state championship Wednesday at Cannon Mountain. Profile finished with a final score of 749, just ahead of Derryfield’s 745. Lin-Wood (722), Sunapee (691) and Gorham (635) rounded out the top-five finishers. Sunapee’s Will Austin took home the individual state title in both the slalom and giant slalom.

The Bedford boys’ Alpine team took home the Division I crown Tuesday at Mt. Sunapee with a score of 387 points. Portsmouth (359), Bishop Guertin of Nashua (353), Concord (336) and Pinkerton Academy of Derry (322) rounded out the top-five finishers. Bedford’s Jack Berge won both the slalom and giant slalom individual titles.

Girls’ basketball

Alvirne 42, Concord 37: In Concord, Alvirne of Hudson made its free throws late in the game to pull away and earn the victory. Amanda Wetmore scored a team-high 16 points and Bri Jones added seven points for the Broncos (12-2). Ashley Kelley logged a game-high 17 points for Concord (2-13).

Pinkerton 72, Spaulding 36: In Rochester on Tuesday, Brooke Kane, Alicia D’Onoforio and Isabella Brouillet all logged double-digit scoring outputs for Pinkerton Academy of Derry. Kane led the Astros (14-1) in scoring with 14 points. D’Onoforio and Brouillet added 12 and 10 points, respectively. 

Bedford 55, Nashua North 28: In Bedford on Tuesday, Jenoyce Laniyan logged a game-high 16 points for the Bulldogs (16-1) on senior night. Teammate Maddie Blake added seven points. Isabel Dunning led Nashua North (8-7) with 11 points.

Windham 52, Milford 50: In Windham on Tuesday, the Jaguars overcame a 15-point halftime deficit to earn the comeback victory. Sam Adamson led Windham in scoring with 16 points. Kaleigh Walsh and Steph Davis each added nine points for the Jaguars (8-5).

Erin McGuire and Emma Gray each logged 13 points for Milford.

Campbell 40, Raymond 30: In Litchfield on Tuesday, Jess Manning led the Cougars (8-9) in scoring with 11 points to earn the victory on senior night. Teammate Annie Paquin added nine points. Alyssa Wysocki scored 12 points for Raymond (0-17).

Boys’ basketball

Pinkerton 79, Dover 60: In Derry, Jay Reynolds , Joey Merrill, Matt Anzivino and Andrew Lufkin all finished with double-digit scoring outputs for Pinkerton (5-8). Reynolds scored a team-high 22 points while Merrill added 21. Anzivino and Lufkin both logged 12 points for the Astros. Dover fell to 4-9.

Boys’ hockey

Bedford 7, Exeter 1: At St. Anselm College in Goffstown, Jacob Rioux led Bedford (14-0-1) with three goals, followed by Jack McDonough with two and one apiece from Jay Roberto (three assists) and Eric Flynn. Griffin Gagne had two assists. Bedford goalie Erik Voloshin had 14 saves. Ricky Davis scored the lone goal for Exeter (3-12).

Goffstown 9, Alvirne 2: In Tyngsboro, Mass., Max Lajeunesse, Noah Charron and Mickey Bridgeman scored two goals each for the Grizzlies (10-5). Brett Branscum, Maggie Fifield and MacKenzie Potvin also scored for Goffstown.Alvirne (3-13) received markers from Justin Hudgins and Kyle Sintiris.

Bow 9, Timberlane 0: At Everett Arena in Concord, Doug Champagne had a hat trick and an assist for Bow (14-1-1). Chris Mead added two goals and Austin Scarinza, freshman Jake Mielcarz, Ryan Tobeler and Dominique Biron each scored once for the Falcons. Mielcarz’s goal marked the first of his career. Timberlane of Plaistow fell to 2-11.

Monadnock 5, Pembroke/Campbell 0: At Keene Ice Arena, Cole Elfreich scored twice and Chris Boucher, Troy Rich and Jason Rehmer each added a goal for Monadnock of Swanzey (6-10). Josh Joslyn made 25 saves to earn the shutout. Connor Locke made 20 saves for Pembroke/Campbell (8-7).

John Stark/Hopkinton 9, Laconia/Winnisquam 3: At New England College in Henniker on Tuesday, John Stark/Hopkinton (9-4-1) scored four goals in the second period to turn a 1-1 tie into a 5-1 advantage entering the third frame. Cole Reid had a hat trick and Nick Luther made 41 saves for L/W (0-13).

Concord 5, Pinkerton 2: Alex Marceau tallied three goals to lead Concord past Pinkerton Wednesday at the Ice Den in Hooksett. Colin Kastle and Dan LeBell each had one goal. Spencer Burgess had 19 saves in net for Concord (14-1).Chris Gile and Lucas Masciarelli each scored for Pinkerton, which dropped to 10-4-1. Dakota Robinson had 33 saves for the Astros.

Girls’ hockey

Bishop Brady/Trinity/West 4, Souhegan 3 (OT): At Conway Arena in Nashua, Sydney Herrington scored the game-winning goal 4:34 into overtime. She finished with two goals and an assist for Bishop Brady/Trinity/West (8-6). Teammates Brianna Brack and Lauren Trippiedi each tallied a goal. Eliza Cullen scored two goals and Maggie Dix added one of her own for Souhegan of Amherst (4-8). Makayla Lachance made 45 saves for the Sabers. Emma Windsor made 16 stops for Brady/Trinity/West.
