Warrant to remove Pay by Bag program fails in Hopkinton
HOPKINTON — Only one warrant article failed to pass at this year’s town meeting on Saturday.
Residents voted down a petition warrant article that would rescind the “Pay by Bag” trash program that had been approved at the 2010 Town Meeting. If it had passed, the program would have ended on April 21.
Residents, however, approved using $102,710 to help offset the costs of that program. That money will come from the program’s special revenue fund.
A warrant article that would raise $15,000 for the digitalization of some town documents was also approved, as well as the roughly $6 million operating budget.
A full rundown of the warrants, along with the results of the Tuesday ballot election, can be found on the town’s website, hopkinton-nh.gov.
