NH Business Newsmakers: CCA chief addresses UK retailers

MANCHESTER — New Hampshire businessman and entrepreneur Howard Brodsky recently traveled to the United Kingdom to give a keynote address to European business leaders. Brodsky was the only speaker from the United States to address the retail conference.
Brodsky focused on CCA Global Partners, the cooperative retail organization he co-founded in 1984 that includes 13 independent business brands. Brodsky also discussed his newest initiative, Cooperatives for a Better World, a nonprofit that promotes the cooperative business model as a mode of sustainable job and wealth creation.
Berkshire honors agent
BELMONT — Lakes Region real estate agent Corina Cisneros was recognized on both the companywide and national levels for her high achievement in 2016 by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty. Based on her gross commission income, she was ranked as a Verani Realty Achiever of the Year and also earned Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ President’s Circle award, which recognizes agents that have achieved a minimum of $185,000 in gross commission income.
Nonprofit names development director
CONCORD — Future In Sight, formerly known as the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, named Gene Martin as director of development. Martin, who lives in Manchester with his wife, Erin, has nearly a decade of experience in fundraising, communications, event logistics, and program management on state political campaigns and as the top aide to the New Hampshire Senate minority leader. Future In Sight, based in Concord, serves residents throughout New Hampshire and other parts of New England.
McLane Middleton honors employee
MANCHESTER — McLane Middleton recently presented Dawn Gagnon with the firm’s annual John A. Graf Client Service Award during the firm’s annual Colleague Recognition Reception. The award is named in honor of a former partner in the firm who was relentlessly focused on solving his or her clients’ problems. Gagnon supports the litigation department by managing complex litigation eDiscovery projects.
U.S. Cellular names Bartalone manager
BEDFORD — U.S. Cellular named Frank Bartalone III to retail area sales manager for the company’s New Hampshire locations. Bartalone leads the sales teams at retail stores in Concord, Keene, Manchester, Tilton and West Lebanon. Bartalone joined U.S. Cellular in 2009 as a retail wireless consultant in the Chicago Market. Bartalone will be working out of U.S. Cellular’s regional business office in Bedford.
Mr. Mac’s promotes Murphy, Sideman
MANCHESTER — Mr. Mac’s Macaroni and Cheese promoted Mark Murphy, general manager at the Mr. Mac’s location in Manchester, to the new position of vice president of operations. Murphy started with Mr. Mac’s soon after its opening in 2010, and was promoted to the general manager position in 2012. He will be responsible for all operations in Mr. Mac’s company-owned restaurants and will act as liaison on all operational matters with Mr. Mac’s franchisee-owned restaurants.
Murphy graduated from Plymouth State University with a business degree and resides in Manchester.
Robert Sideman was promoted to general manager at Mr. Mac’s in Manchester. Sideman previously was the assistant general manager at the Manchester location and started with Mr. Mac’s in 2010 as a part-time team member while attending Southern New Hampshire University.
Upon graduation with a degree in restaurant management, Sideman worked for Buffalo Wild Wings for one year before returning to Mr. Mac’s.
Mather joins MCHC
MANCHESTER — Physician assistant Karen Mather is now seeing patients at Manchester Community Health Center’s clinic at 145 Hollis St.
Mather received a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Connecticut and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree at Albany Medical College in New York.
She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
