River Road in Hudson was expected to be closed until afternoon between Pine Road and Philbrick Street while Eversource makes repair after a Jeep crashed into a utility pole early Thursday.

HUDSON — River Road will be closed until Thursday afternoon between Pine Road and Philbrick Street after a Jeep Wrangler crashed into a utility pole early Thursday.

Police said officers and firefighters were called to the area of 62 River Road about 1:30 a.m., where the 2012 Jeep Wrangler had crashed. The man driving, who remains unidentified by police, was the only person in the car and refused transport, police said.

Drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors in the crash, police said.

The Jeep and utility pole were heavily damaged, police said. Eversource was working on repairs and said the road would be closed until repairs are finished. Police have advised motorists to seek alternate routes.
