H.S. Track and Field: South's Lewis, Bow's Biron best in decathlon, heptathlon

Nashua South’s Terrell Lewis had the best time in the 110 hurdles and claimed the title in the State Decathlon competition held over the weekend at Nashua South.
Lewis scored 5,603 points, besting runner-up Hudson Ingoldsby of Prospect Mountain of Alton (5,231). Other top-10 finishers were Freddy Schaake of Winnacunnet of Hampton, Grant Croft of Kearsarge of Sutton, Zachary Adams of Exeter, Mike Giraldi of Bedford, Fiston Kapongo of Portsmouth Christian, Adam Spencer of Pinkerton of Derry, Steven Walker of Fall Mountain of Langdon and Drew Dickinson of Portsmouth.
On the girls’ side, Dominique Biron of Bow claimed top honors in the State Heptathlon, scoring 4,321 points. Sydney Lewis of Nashua South was second, with 3,735 points, followed by Manchester Central’s Katya Levasseur, with 3,514.
Rounding out the top 10 girls were Emma Wheeler of Inter-Lakes of Meredith, Amber Hedquist of Nashua South, Kath Merchant of Lebanon, Georgia Dickinson of Portsmouth, Vanessa Rivera of Manchester Memorial, Mackenzie Day of Hollis/Brookline and Rylee Ducharme of Manchester Central.
The decathlon tests athletes in 10 events: the long jump, 100 meters, shot put, high jump, 400 meters, 110 hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500.
The heptahlon is made up of the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters, long jump, javelin throw and 800 meters.
