Ashley Eileen Bugay of Mohnton, Pa., and Carl-Werner Scott of Plymouth, N.H., were married by the Rev. Canon John Francis at Christ Episcopal Church in Reading, Pa., on June 10, 2017.
The bride is the daughter of Joseph Gary Bugay and Marie Denise Bugay of Mohnton, and the groom is the son of Col. Ward Scott II and Patrice Scott of Plymouth.
A reception was held at Reading Public Museum.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Shillington, Pa. She graduated with honors in 2009 from Gettysburg College, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.
She has worked as a consultant in education, both higher and corporate, for eight years. She currently is working as an engagement manager for Harvard Business Publishing's Corporate Learning Division, where she partners with Global 1000 companies to design and implement corporate leadership development solutions.
The bridegroom is a 2003 graduate of Groton School, Groton, Mass. He graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in history. He was appointed to the Naval Academy by then-Sen. Judd Gregg in 2003.
The groom received a Master of Philosophy degree in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies from the University of Cambridge in 2008, and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2017. He is a strategy manager with Corning Incorporated.
He also is an officer serving in the Marine Corps Reserve and assigned to 1st Battalion, 25th Marines. He is expected to be promoted to the rank of major in August. He served on active duty as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps from 2007 to 2015 and is a veteran of two combat deployments to Afghanistan.
He was a member of the history faculty at the Naval Academy from 2012 to 2015, where he taught naval and world history courses to undergraduates.
