CONCORD — A judge set bail at $40,000 cash Tuesday for a former Pembroke Academy administrator charged with possessing drugs at the school.

Judge Richard McNamara set the bail amount with a provision that would allow Rekha Luther, 37, to be released on $10,000 personal recognizance if she is accepted to an in-patient drug treatment program.

McNamara also admonished Luther for failing to appear at her last two court dates and telling her attorney to tell the court she had been overseas getting treatment when she actually never left New Hampshire.

A warrant was issued for Luther’s arrest last week when she did not show up for jury selection for her trial in Merrimack County Superior Court.

She was arrested Thursday in Manchester and spent the weekend in jail.
