July 20. 2017 9:38PM

Grant Lavigne of Bedford and Bryce Reagan of Souhegan Regional of Amherst were named to the East Coast Pro Rangers and Area Code Yankees teams.

Tryouts were by invitation only and each player was required to have a recommendation from a professional scout.

The evaluators for the program were Major League Baseball scouts, who also coach the teams. Reagan and Lavigne were chosen from a group of 300 players that was whittled down to the final 50 in a full-day work-out at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.

Takeshi Sakurayama, the Rangers Northeast Regional scout, coaches the Rangers squad and, Matt Hyde, the Yankees Northeast Regional scout, coaches the Area Code team.

The Rangers will participate in a six-team spring training-like format in Tampa, Fla., at the Yankees spring training facility from July 31 through Aug. 4

The Yankees will participate in the Area Code tournament in Long Beach, Calif., from Aug. 5 through Aug. 10.
