MANCHESTER — After a walkoff victory on the previous night, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats took care of business in more decisive fashion on Thursday with their 11-5 win over the Hartford Yard Goats at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
New Hampshire scored at least two runs in five of nine innings, including runs in each of the final four innings. Lourdes Gurriel and Gunnar Heidt each provided an RBI in the second inning to stake the Fisher Cats to their first and only lead at 2-1. The bats continued to thrive later with two-run singles from Gurriel and Harold Ramirez in the seventh and eighth inning.
Gurriel, Heidt, Guerrero and Tim Lopes each collected a pair of hits for New Hampshire while Anthony Alford’s RBI single in the fifth inning extended his hitting streak to nine games.
Correlle Prime’s eighth-inning grand slam highlighted Hartford’s offense.
New Hampshire starter Thomas Pannone was the recipient of the run support as he came up with his first win with the Fisher Cats.
The lefthander, who had two prior starts with New Hampshire after joining the club via a trade on July 31, twirled 5⅔ innings of one-run ball while allowing five hits and striking out three. Pannone limited Hartford to three hits over the remainder of his outing after allowing two in the first inning.
