Fishers face Mets' Harvey, win in 10 innings

August 22. 2017 12:52AM

Matt Harvey’s rehab start on Monday night against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats had its ups and downs.

The New York Mets right-hander, coming off shoulder surgery in June, pitched three innings for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in a 7-6, 10-inning Eastern League loss at NYSEG Stadium.

Derrick Loveless walked with the bases loaded in the 10th inning, scoring Harold Ramirez with the winning run for the Fisher Cats (51-75).

On 54 pitches, 32 for strikes, Harvey, an All-Star for the Mets in 2013, allowed four hits, two runs, one walk and fanned three. The Fisher Cats gave Harvey all he could handle in his short outing. In the first inning, Richard Urena reached on a one-out double, but was stranded there after Anthony Alford flied out and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. lined out to short.

The Fisher Cats rallied for a second-inning run after Harvey retired the first two hitters. Emilio Guerrero singled on a soft line drive to center field and advanced to second on a walk to Gunnar Heidt. Loveless followed with a base hit to center, scoring Guerrero.

In the third inning, Alford launched his fifth homer of the season. Harvey retired the last two batters to complete his three-inning stint. It was Harvey’s third rehab start, the first two coming with the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones.

Thomas Pannone (7-2, 3.03 ERA) gets the 6:30 p.m. start today for the Fisher Cats against Casey Delgado (10-5, 4.71).
