Reading handles Fisher Cats

Jacob Waguespack had the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ number on Monday night.

Waguespack, a 37th-round draft pick in 2012, held the visiting Fisher Cats to three hits over eight innings in the Reading Fightin Phils’ 6-3 Eastern League victory.

The right-hander improved to 2-2. He allowed all three runs (one earned), departing in the ninth after an RBI hits by Richard Urena (double) and Anthony Alford (single). Ranfi Casimiro finished up and earned his first save.

Tom Pannone (7-3) took the loss for New Hampshire, going six innings. He permitted five runs (three earned) on seven hits, including solo homers by Malquin Canelo and Derek Campbell.

The teams play again tonight at 6:35 p.m.
