NHIAA Roundup: Lupo leads the way as BG girls tip Keene

The Cardinals’ winning streak is up to five in field hockey.

Katie Lupo scored the winning goal and assisted on the other goal to lead Bishop Guertin of Nashua to a 2-1 win against host Keene on Monday. BG (5-0) has outscored its opponents 15-3 this season. Keene is 1-3-1.

McKenna Gosselin gave the Cardinals the early lead with nine minutes remaining in the first half.

Lupo, assisted by Sarah Coyle, tallied the winning goal with 12 minutes left. Keene’s lone goal was scored by Maggie Cahoon with eight minutes left. Goalie Makena Leazer had eight saves for BG while Keene netminder Livy Auger turned back six shots.

Derryfield 2, Kennett 1: In Conway, Derryfield improved to 3-0 behind Lindsey Stagg, who had two assists.

In the first half, Katharine Gage scored her first varsity goal on a rebound. Kennett tied the game in the 46th minute on a score by Alexa Gutowski.

Anna Welch, a senior co-captain for Derryfield, delivered the winning goal in the 50th minute. Derryfield goalie Isabell Plotsker had seven saves and was protected in front by teammates Sydney Socha and Ella Matarese on defense.

Londonderry 5, Exeter 1: In Londonderry, the Lancers (2-2) scored four first-half goals.

Allie Marsh and Courtney Shay each had an unassisted goal, Maeve McPhail tallied on a penalty stroke and Alivia Proulx was assisted by Krista Fletcher.

Exeter’s Teagan Healy and Londonderry’s Lauren Mullen, assisted by Shay, exchanged second-half goals.

Exeter goalie Laney Hayward had 12 saves. Londonderry’s Rylee Walter and Morgan Brutus combined for three saves.

Manchester Central 3, Nashua North 0: In Nashua, Emma Dudley tallied twice and Emily Ahern added the third goal for the Little Green (2-1-1) against the 0-4 Titans.

Gabby Leonard and Abby Conrad each had an assist for Central, which outshot North, 15-0. Central had six corners.

Bedford 2, Nashua South 1: In Bedford, Hannah McCarthy tied the game in the first half for the Bulldogs and Sophia Pothru tallied the game-winner in the second half.

Goalie Rachel Noble had 13 saves for the 2-2 Bulldogs.


Pinkerton 3, Bedford 0: In Bedford, Pinkerton (4-0) defeated Bedford (2-2) behind 14 kills, 25 digs, 11 service points and four aces from Amelia Graves.

Ella Dandrade amassed 28 digs and seven kills while Sara Metzger collected 31 assists. Brooke Kane had four blocks.

Sophia Guerro led Bedford with seven service points and Jordan Starace had six. Ramou Toal registered four blocks.

Campbell 3, Mascenic 0: In Litchfield, Olivia Garand led Campbell (3-0) with 11 digs and Gabi Sott contributed 12 kills, five digs and one ace. Cleo Schultz had nine kills and one block while Maddy Trevains had two aces, four kills and four digs.

Campbell 3, Moultonborough 1: In Litchfield on Friday, Gabi Sott had an ace, nine kills and 10 digs. Cleo Schultz added 10 kills and three blocks while Cassidy Gibbons collected an ace, nine kills, four digs and one block. Meghan Gibbons had six aces and six digs.

Hollis/Brookline 3, Nashua North 0: In Nashua, Maddie Norris had 12 kills and eight aces while Kyra Belden added 10 aces and 28 assists.

Elizabeth Atkinson collected 10 kills and two blocks while Sammie Sheppard had nine digs and Kenzie Powers amassed four aces. North is 0-3 and the Cavaliers are 3-0.

Bishop Guertin 3, Merrimack 0: In Merrimack, Rita Dow led the Cardinals with 12 kills and eight digs while Elise Roy had five aces, five kills and 14 digs.

Maddy Keating added five aces, five kills and 10 digs, Liza Field had eight kills and three blocks while Alicia Glasheen accumulated 28 assists.

Boys’ soccer

Goffstown 6, St. Thomas 0: In Goffstown, the Grizzlies (3-3) beat the Saints (2-4) behind three goals from Noah Charron and two goals from Mike Fortin.

Nick Mason added a goal and two assists. David Gibson had an assist. St .Thomas goalie Adam Olsen had nine save and Goffstown keeper Tyler Santoro had six saves.

Hopkinton 4, Mascenic 0: In Hopkinton, Gerry Donahue netted three goals and Dustin Rose had an unassisted tally.

Azarius Meister collected two assists and Max Rossignol had one. Peter Sintros had three saves for the 4-0 Hawks.
