HOLLIS — Since its loss on Sept. 1, the Windham High field hockey has found its offensive rhythm. On Monday at Hollis/Brookline, the Jaguars’ attack proved itself again in an 8-1 victory.
Kate Blaisdell scored three times, all in the second half. The Jaguars (3-1) were up 3-0 heading into the half before the Cavaliers (1-5) tallied off the stick of Sofia Barassi to open the second stanza.
After that, it was all Jags.
Blasdell scored her three in a span of six minutes before Livi Manchester netted her second tally of the game and Ryanne Farrell closed out the scoring.
“I think we started a little slow,” said Windham coach Katie Blair. “I think once we got scoring and went on a run, it was contagious and brought everyone’s level up.”
“It started slow in the beginning but then we did what Windham can do and got the W,” agreed Blaisdell.
It’s the third time this season Windham has scored five times or more in a game. The Jaguars won their third straight contest after that 1-0 defeat to Souhegan a few weeks ago.
The second-half goal for the Cavs also reminded Windham to keep its eyes on the prize even when up.
“We gave them some things to correct at halftime, and then all of a sudden it showed, like ‘Hey, we have to play the whole 60 minutes of the game,’” said Blair.
The game opened up with Windham dominating, not allowing a Cavaliers shot on net until Barassi’s goal to open the second half. Manchester scored her first goal with 7:13 left in the first before freshman Paige Butler scored a minute later. With 2:45 to go in the half, Madi Connelly made it 3-0.
Windham had 15 corners in the contest and scored off of two of them. Hollis/Brookline goalie Emily Dvareckas made seven saves in net. Abby Harris made three saves for the Jaguars.
