ENRIQUE MORENO

MANCHESTER — A city man is facing charges after police said he allowed his girlfriend’s 11-year-old child drive his SUV Friday.

The driver’s brother, 3, was in the back seat, police said.

Enrique Moreno, 37, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of possession of a controlled drug after police said he had a small amount of marjuana, cocaine and heroin.

According to a release, an officer witnessed several motor-vehicle infractions near Putnam Street about 6:20 p.m. Friday. When he pulled over the 2002 Acura MDX, police said, Moreno got out of the passenger seat and tried to talk to the officer before he could get to the driver’s window. When the officer determined the driver was 11, he took the keys and notified the children’s mother. The 3-year-old was restrained in a child seat, police said.

Moreno, who is not related to the children, was scheduled to appear in Manchester circuit court Monday.
