Death of a party

October 02. 2017 8:28PM

To the Editor: It is disheartening to see what has happened to one of the country’s two major parties. The logical conclusion to the Republican Party’s generation-long anti-intellectualism and rejection of science (and any inconvenient facts, for that matter), shameless use of dirty tricks, devotion to tax cuts for the wealthy above all else, and swoon to far-right ideology is Trumpism.

Witness this repugnant creed at work now. The party denies climate change in the face of the most destructive hurricanes in history, it is just a few votes shy of passing a truly dreadful “health care” bill, and its members are tolerating the infantile rantings of their leader as he brings us closer to a nuclear exchange.
