CONCORD — The state’s highest court will hear an appeal from Owen Labrie challenging a judge’s denial of his request for a new trial, a court spokeswoman said Thursday.

Labrie wanted a new trial after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old freshman when he was a senior while both were students at St. Paul’s School in 2014.

Labrie was convicted of prohibited use of a computer, as well as sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors, in a case that involved a game of sexual conquest, known as the “Senior Salute,” at the preparatory school.

This case is separate from Labrie’s appeal regarding his convictions, which is on hold until the issue of whether he is gratned a new trial is resolved.
