DOVER — At least nine farmers markets and 40 farmers will benefit from a $176,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, according to the director of programs for Seacoast Eat Local.

Jillian Hall made the announcement Monday afternoon, saying that the money will help the group expand the work it does to support farmers.

“This is a big win for us as an organization and also for local foods across the Seacoast,” Hall said in a news release. “With this funding we will be able to greatly enhance our advertising online, in print and through radio media.”

The hope is local farmers will see an increase in revenue as a result of the three-year grant.

Seacoast Eat Local is a nonprofit organization established in 2012.

This is the first federal grant it has been awarded, Hall said.
