MANCHESTER — The Manchester Expeditionary Brigade, a group of local volunteers, will host a celebration of the 242nd U.S. Marine Corps birthday at the Executive Court Banquet Facility in Manchester on Friday, Nov. 10.
Each year on Nov. 10, regardless of location, Marines pause to observe the Marine Corps birthday, often sharing a meal followed by birthday cake with their fellow warriors.
This year's Manchester celebration is open to all Marines and their family members and friends. The event will begin with a social hour at 11 a.m. at the banquet hall, located at 1199 S. Mammoth Road, and will conclude with a Marine Corps memorabilia raffle at 2 p.m.
The event will feature two speakers: Guest speaker and Gold Star Sister Stephanie Ouellette will be speaking on behalf of the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument project at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, and New Hampshire's former U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte will be the keynote speaker.
Reservations are required. Tickets cost $35 per person if purchased before Saturday, Oct. 21. If purchased after that date, tickets will be sold on a space-available basis for $40 per person. To purchase tickets or for further information, contact Paul Pouliot at (603) 296-0030 or ManchExpBrigade@gmail.com.
Guests are invited to donate a new, unwrapped toy for the Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” campaign.
