Business and Industry Association to present Girls Inc. with NH Advantage Award

MANCHESTER — The Business and Industry Association will honor Girls Inc. with the New Hampshire Advantage Award next Wednesday at its annual dinner and awards celebration.
Girls Inc. offers programs that address math and science education, pregnancy and drug abuse prevention, media literacy, economic literacy, adolescent health, violence prevention, careers and leadership, and sports participation. The nonprofit also works with policymakers to advocate for legislation and initiatives that increase opportunities for girls.
Past New Hampshire Advantage Award recipients include the University of New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies, New Hampshire Public Television, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, the NH Center for Nonprofits, the New Hampshire Humanities Council, New Hampshire Food Bank, Easterseals New Hampshire, the 2-1-1 New Hampshire partnership, the New Hampshire Political Library and a core group of supporters who worked to prevent closure of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard under the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process.
Former Gov. John H. Sununu and former University System of New Hampshire Chancellor Edward MacKay will be honored with Lifetime Achievement awards at the dinner.
