High School Roundup: Exeter's Gaughan wins Brown Invitational cross-country meet

Jackie Gaughan of Exeter High School won the prestigious Brown Invitational cross country race in Warwick, R.I., on Saturday.

Gaughan's time of 16 minutes, 48.29 seconds over the 5-kilometer course at Goddard State Park was second-fastest all time, just behind Katherine Lee of New York, who ran a 16:45 last year.

Nashua South freshman Cali Coffin was fifth (17:49.57). Coe-Brown freshman Addison Cox was seventh (18:06.43). Bishop Guertin sophomore Caroline Towle was eighth (18:07.24) and Pinkerton sophomore Meghan Cross was ninth (18:08.32).

Golf

Division II: Sam Barton of Kingswood of Wolfeboro shot a 4-over par 148 over two rounds to win the Division II boys' golf championship Saturday at Rochester Country Club.

Barton finished three shots ahead of Hanover's Phin Choukas and 13 shots ahead of Pat McDonald of Hollis/Brookline.

Boys' Soccer

Raymond 3, Epping 1: At Raymond, Andrew Dupuis had a goal and an assist and Alex Sweeney made three saves for the Rams (10-4). Tyler Wall scored for Epping (2-12), which received 12 saves from Garrett Hughes.

Girls' soccer

Souhegan 2, Windham 1: At Windham, Grace Angulas scored for Souhegan (11-1-2) and Ali Schiebel had a goal for Windham (7-6).

Bedford 5, Salem 0: At Bedford on Friday, Shayna Salis scored twice and assisted on one for Bedford.

Londonderry 7, Keene 1: At Keene Friday, Londonderry's Lauren Misiaszek and Olivia Stowell scored twice.

Volleyball

Epping 3, Raymond 1: At Raymond, Anna Re had six aces, 12 kills and 18 digs.

Campbell 3, Farmington 0: At Litchfield, Gabi Sott had nine kills and four digs.

Cleo Schultz had six kills and two blocks, and Cassidy Gibbons had five aces, five kills and five digs.

Hollis/Brookline 3, Salem 1: At Salem on Friday, Kaleigh Whalen had 11 kills and three aces for Hollis/Brookline. Maddie Norris had eight kills, four aces and 10 digs.
