The run to a third Division I championship in four years started strong for the Winnacunnet of Hampton field hockey team on Saturday. The Warriors cruised through their quarterfinal match with a 4-0 blanking of Dover in Hampton.
Dailynn Annis scored a goal in both halves to pace Winnacunnet (13-2), which took a 2-0 lead into halftime over Dover (7-7-2). Dana Sher and Alyssa Crochetierre added a goal apiece around Annis' tallies.
No. 2 Winnacunnet gets No. 3 Timberlane of Plaistow in Wednesday's semifinals at Bill Ball Stadium in Exeter. The meeting is a rematch of last year's championship game, which the Owls won 2-1.
Timberlane 1, Exeter 0: In Plaistow, Sarah Padellaro of the Timberlane field hockey team scored with 7:41 to play and it proved to be the difference for the Owls (13-2). While the game remained scoreless prior to the Padellaro's strike, defending champion Timberlane controlled much of the possession and left Exeter (7-9) few chances of its own.
