DURHAM - Trevor Gooch lifted the Colorado College men's hockey team to a 2-1 overtime victory over the University of New Hampshire Saturday night at the Whittemore Center.

Gooch received a pass from Westin Michaud and proceeded to go top shelf on UNH goaltender Danny Tirone 1 minute, 3 seconds into the five-minute overtime period.

The Tigers received a standout effort from sophomore netminder Alex Leclerc, who turned away 39 UNH shots en route to the win.

Colorado College freshman forward Christiano Versich had a chance to end the game in regulation but his shot with 29 seconds remaining in the third frame hit the left post.

Jack Gates' goal that came with 7:20 remaining in the opening period gave Colorado College a 1-0 lead entering the first intermission. The freshman's tally came five seconds after the Tigers' second power play of the contest.

The Tigers would have taken that 1-0 advantage into the third period if not for the efforts of UNH freshman Max Gildon. The defenseman shot through Leclerc's legs from the left circle with 29.8 seconds left in the second period to knot the score at 1-1.

The goal marked Gildon's fourth against the Tigers this weekend. The Plano, Texas, resident recorded his first career hat trick in the Wildcats' 6-3 triumph over Colorado College Friday night.

Tirone finished with 22 saves.
