The 11th annual Manchester City Marathon, a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, is set for Sunday at 8:50 a.m. at Veterans’ Park, Elm Street. There will also be a half-marathon, a full marathon relay (four persons) and half-marathon (two people) relay.
Bib pickup for the runners on Sunday is 7 a.m. at Veterans’ Park.
Last November, about 1,800 runners from 26 states and six countries participated in both the marathon and the accompanying 5K. This year, the Penmen for Patriots 5K is set for Saturday at 3 p.m. on the Southern New Hampshire University campus.
Last year, a pair of Massachusetts runners claimed titles. Dan Vassallo, of Peabody, won the men’s division in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 59 second, while Salem’s Meagan Nedlo celebrated her 34th birthday by taking the women’s division in 2:53:35.
This is the second year the event has been produced by Bedford-based Millennium Running and founder John Mortimer.
