East Kingston, Fremont aim to place wreaths on 350 graves

November 16. 2017 3:05AM

Once again, Wreaths Across America would like to place wreaths on the veterans’ gravesites in East Kingston and Fremont; combined, the number of veterans buried in those plots comes to 350: 142 in East Kingston and 208 in Fremont.

Wreaths cost $15 each. $10 pays for the construction and delivery of the wreath. The remaining $5 will be used to support Liberty House in Manchester and the Veterans Northeast Outreach Center in Haverhill, Mass.

Volunteers are needed to buy wreaths, to unload the truck when the wreaths are delivered, and to place the wreaths on the gravesites in December and remove them in the spring. The wreaths are expected to arrive between Monday, Dec. 11, and Friday, Dec. 15.

The two Wreaths of Remembrance Ceremonies will take place Saturday, Dec. 16, at noon. In East Kingston, the ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial Stone in front of the East Kingston Library on Maplevale Road. In Fremont, attendees will meet at the Veterans Memorial Monument in front of the Fremont Town Hall on Main Street.

To volunteer, call Gerry Tilley at 895-6658.
