CONCORD — Members of the Buntin-Rumford-Webster Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution sponsored a Work Day last month at the Old Fort Cemetery.
For three years, the chapter has been restoring headstones and helping with upkeep at the cemetery, which was established in 1775 and was formerly known as The Old Fort Burying Ground.
The members gathered to clean another six headstones after they had been removed by cemetery staff members, who also helped with the cleaning. Afterward, the stones were reset.
These stones belong to war veterans with names familiar in the Concord area, including, Eastman and Kimball.
