PEMBROKE — Police are investigating a threat made Thursday afternoon at the town’s high school.
Around 1 p.m. that day, police said they received a report of a threat made against Pembroke Academy from a cellphone.
“It was taken very seriously by administrators when they first found out,” said Pembroke police Lt. Gary Gaskell.
A shelter in place was held as police and school officials investigated the incident, police said.
Extra security was also added to the area as a precaution.
“We collaborated together to work the investigation the best we could,” Gaskell said.
The origin of the threat was found, and students and faculty were able to safely leave school at the normal time.
“We believe we have a suspect identified,” Gaskell said.
The shelter in place was lifted about an hour after the threat was reported, according to Gaskell.
Police declined to say what type of threat it was due to the ongoing investigation.
