Manchester Over-40 Hockey League: Visiting Angels stay unbeaten

First place Visiting Angels remained undefeated (5-0-1) as they scored three goals in each period and cruised to a 9-5 win over Atlas Precision Metal Fabricators in Manchester Over-40 Hockey League play last Friday at JFK Coliseum in Manchester.

Mike Dunne (three goals) and Steve Smith (two) led the way for VA. Also scoring were Mike Mailloux, Steve Yabroudy, Butch Greenwood and Dan LaBerge. Bob Bechard, Steve Chabot and Roy Chamberlain each chipped in with two assists.

Scoring for Atlas were Jeb Sayer, Jim Michael, Dave Chaput and Rich Verrier, who tallied twice. Rocky Desrosiers earned the win, turning aside 23 shots; Jon Komarek faced 43 shots from the winners.

The second game saw Danny Leblanc score his second goal of the game with 1:25 left in the game to lead Phaneuf Funeral Homes to a 4-3 win over Luigi’s Pizza.

Also scoring for Phaneuf were Steve Smith and John Franco. Smith and Steve DesRuisseaux each had two assists.

Luigi’s got goals from the league’s leading scorer, Eric Grant, team captain Craig Beck and Bruce Courtney. Mark Sloan had 22 saves for Phaneuf; Gerry Bergeron had 29 for Luigi’s.
