Santa sneaks a peek through the window at the Hobo Railroad in Lincoln to check on preparations for this year’s annual Santa Express Trains.
LINCOLN - A sleigh may be Santa's preferred mode of travel on Christmas Eve, but on the Friday after Thanksgiving, he'll be back aboard The Hobo Railroad.

After Friday's run, the Santa Express Trains will continue Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23. All runs are at 1 p.m.

“The Santa Express Trains have been part of our annual schedule since the Hobo Railroad first opened 30 years ago in 1987,” said Paul Giblin, director of marketing and business development for the Hobo and Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroads.

“For many of our guests, enjoying hot chocolate and holiday cookies with Santa on the train has become a long-standing family tradition. In fact, in many cases we're seeing second and third generations returning to create their own family traditions.”

During the rides, children fills out letters to Santa, who gives each a gift.

Tickets are $22-$28; free for age 2 and under. Visit or call 745-2135 for reservations.
