Help wanted

November 23. 2017 8:54PM

To the Editor: For months now, anywhere I’ve driven in the Concord-Manchester area I see “Help Wanted” signs. And usually these signs stay in front of these businesses for weeks, if not months.

This tells me these businesses can not find people to fill their open jobs. If I’m seeing these signs, why isn’t the Department of Employment Security?

In this computer age, there is no reason the unemployment office could not scan their files for individuals with experience and capabilities, or forget these requirements. Have all the unemployed interview for three or four or some number of these positions. And if not, cancel their benefits.

Related to the above, I have a similar concern. I’ve seen panhandlers on a corner near a dozen businesses with “Help Wanted” signs. Why?
