NH Veterans News: Hampstead tree reminds of heroes

HAMPSTEAD — The 2017 Hampstead Heroes Tree will be placed in the lobby of the town offices, 11 Main St., at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4.

Veterans’ families can place a colored star on it before Christmas in honor of loved ones who have served or are currently serving.

Questions can be directed to Howie Steadman, chairman of the Patriotic Purposes Committee, at 329-4288.

Holiday dinner’s funds will support veterans

PELHAM — The John H. Hargreaves Memorial VFW Post 10722 is sponsoring a holiday dinner to benefit veterans.

The dinner will be served Friday, Dec. 8, at the Post, located at 6 Main St., Pelham. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 6 p.m.

The event is open to the public. Admission costs $8 per adult and $5 per child younger than 12. All proceeds will go to veterans’ programs.

A 50/50 raffle and door prize will be awarded.

NHNG Alumni Band helping Liberty House

MANCHESTER — The Alumni Band of the NH National Guard will perform Monday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 79, 35 Brook St., Manchester.

The concert will benefit Liberty House, which provides supportive housing to veterans who are transitioning from homelessness. Liberty House asks for donations of toiletry items such as shampoo, deodorant and dental care items for its residents.

The concert will include marches, Broadway tunes, patriotic music, Christmas songs and other crowd pleasing favorites. Additional information is available on the band’s website,

Stuck in Time Band playing at Post 2

MANCHESTER — American Legion Post 2, Sweeney Post, is offering a SAL sponsored meat raffle Friday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Stuck in Time Band will perform immediately following until 11 p.m.

The Saturday Night Dance on Dec. 2 will feature Manchuka playing from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Post 27 serving Toys for Tots meal

LONDONDERRY — Following are the December happenings at American Legion Post 27, located at 6 Sargent Road in Londonderry.

The Post will be open Sunday, Dec. 3, and will be serving a Toys for Tots dinner during halftime of the Patriots game. Bring a new, unwrapped toy or make a donation to enjoy the Italian meal assembled by the Post 27 Auxiliary.

Karaoke with DJ Sharon takes place Friday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. Non-members interested in joining Post 27 are welcome to attend.

The monthly general meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m.

The children’s Christmas party is Saturday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon. Children 8 and younger are invited to meet Santa Claus and get a present. Children must be related to current Post 27 members. Interested families need to sign up in advance at the Post.

Jutras Post 43 meat raffle set for Sunday

MANCHESTER — Jutras Post 43 is hosting a meat raffle Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. A light lunch will be served.
