Lancer wrestlers win opener

The Londonderry High wrestling team opened its season with a 45-24 victory over Nashua North on Wednesday.

The Lancers had pins from freshmen Aiden O’Loughlin (120 pounds) and Johnny McKinnon (132). Freshman Dylan Barnes (138) contributed a 10-2 major decision while senior Craig Santos (145) had a 15-0 second-period tech fall.

Junior Taylor Dyer (220) recorded a quick pin and junior Wyatt Lamontagne (285) capped off the night with another fall.

120: Aiden O`Loughlin (L) pinned Sullivan Horan, 0:46. 132: Johnny McKinnon (L) pinned Juliana Russo, 2:20. 138: Dylan Barnes (L) def. Anthony Rivera, 10-2. 145: Craig Santos (L) def. Raymond Quigley, technical fall, 15-0 3:12. 160: Alyx Vallerand (N) pinned Ian Ward, 2:31. 195: 220: Taylor Dyer (L) pinned Ethan Sullivan, 0:26. 285: Wyatt Lamontagne (L) pinned Jaysse Hernandez Sanchez, 3:18.

Central-Merrimack

Manchester Central split matches head-to-head against Merrimack on Wednesday in a 42-21 opening-night loss.

Central received pins from junior all-state wrestler Camren Varney at 195 pounds and Justus Brady at heavyweight. Freshman Alexis Dobson made history as the first female Central wrestler to earn a varsity win with a second-period pin of her opponent. Senior Marquise G-Boyer recorded his first win of the season, upsetting Brendan Parr 10-6.
