CONCORD — Hanover Country Club will host the 2018 New Hampshire Amateur Championship in July, the first time in 32 years the Dartmouth College course has hosted the state’s top amateur golf tournament, the New Hampshire Golf Association said Monday.

The tournament will begin Sunday, July 8, and conclude with a 36-hole final match on Friday the 13th.

North Conway Country Club sustained heavy damage in an October wind and rain storm, preventing it from hosting the 115th State Am, the NHGA said.

Hanover CC, which opened in 1899 on the Dartmouth campus, first hosted the State Am in 1927. The 2018 tournament will be the fifth amateur championship held at the layout, which plays just under 6,500 yards.

Hanover CC head pro Alex Kirk said in a news release he is “privileged to be hosting an event as prestigious as the New Hampshire State Am.”

The tournament will be sponsored by Audi of Nashua. It is a six-day event, beginning with 36 holes of stroke play to determine the 64 players who advance to match play.
