Dad's prediction came true

January 09. 2018 11:35PM

To the Editor: When I was a teenager, my father was reading the Sunday newspaper and started laughing so hard he fell out of his chair.

When asked what he was laughing about, he showed us an article in the paper that stated New Hampshire was putting up tollbooths between Concord and Manchester, and that they would only be up until the construction of I-93 was paid for.

My father predicted that those tollbooths would never come down in his lifetime, and that they would never come down in our lifetime.

Today, I am a great-grandmother and as the debate is going on to increase the toll prices, I predict that the tollbooths will never come down in my great or great-great grandchildren’s lifetimes.
