To the Editor: Am I completely disillusioned, or is the state Legislature trying to decide whether to legalize pot to increase revenue?
The state of New Hampshire is in the highest opioid crisis we have ever experienced, and the legislators want to legalize an escalating drug for extra revenue. Suggested reading for legislators is Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense.” It would seem that a better solution might be found if this august body put its collective heads together and worked together.
A starting point might be for New Hampshire to have a central collecting agency that collects all the marijuana that has been attained through arrests and sell this cache to the nearest state that has legalized pot. This would do away with taxation, not creating an agency to police the “black market”, etc.
