High School Roundup: Teixeira, Windham boys prevail

Nothing like a little rivalry win to kick your season back into gear. That’s what the Windham High boys’ basketball team is thinking after downing host Milford 64-59 on Friday. The win snapped a four-game losing skid for the Jaguars (2-4).

A Jake Teixeira 3-pointer with just over a minute to play gave Windham a two-possession lead and it kept it there until the final buzzer.

Teixeira, who knocked down five treys, poured in a game-high 19 points. Windham also got 13 from Jake Byers while Tom Splagounias and Riley Desmarais finished with 11 and 10, respectively. Jake Greska and Max Fortin each posted 16 points for Milford (4-3).

Manchester Central 60, Nashua North 36: In Nashua, Kyler Bosse scored 15 points and played well on the boards in the comfortable win for the Little Green (3-1). Jesus Milan also starred under the basket, and Erik Rodriguez added 10 points. C.J. Barrett’s 10 points led North (0-4).

Manchester Memorial 61, Dover 52: In Manchester, a 21-10 third quarter helped the Crusaders (3-1) run away from the Green Wave (0-4) after Memorial led by a point at halftime. Jake Santiago (17 points), Mike Roumraj (11) and Alec Ross (10) all finished in double figures. Devin Cady scored 23 points for Dover.

Derryfield 78, Hinsdale 44: In Manchester, the Cougars stayed unbeaten (6-0) entering their showdown at unbeaten Newmarket next Tuesday. Max Byron nailed six 3-pointers for his 18 points, and teammates Cody Bournival (17) and Jeff Pratt (10) also hit double figures. Caleb Steever’s 17 points led Hinsdale (2-4).

Salem 70, Trinity 62: In Manchester, the Blue Devils (4-4) overcame a halftime deficit and hit 9 of 10 free throws down the stretch in the fourth quarter to beat the Pioneers (0-7). Trevor DeMinico topped Salem’s scoring with 18 points while Nick Hayes and Kyle Poulin each followed with 17. Zach Caraballo also reached double digits for Salem with 12 points. Zach Dagan led three Pioneers in double figures with 15 points while Ethan Frenette and Wil Spencer added 12 apiece.

Exeter 59, Londonderry 51: In Londonderry, the Blue Hawks (5-0) remain undefeated after dropping the previously undefeated Lancers (5-1). Exeter led at every break and got buzzer-beating shots from Cam Clark at the end of the second and third quarter, respectively. Cody Morissette led Exeter with 18 points while Cole Britting paced Londonderry with 17.

Moultonborough 59, Profile 44: In Moultonborough, senior Reese Swedberg poured in 34 points as the Panthers (5-2) pulled away in the middle quarters. Joe McClay added 10 points. River Baker and Dylan Robie scored 12 each for Profile (5-3).

Girls’ basketball

Manchester Memorial 72, Dover 51: In Dover, the Crusaders embarked on a 21-0 run after trailing 7-2 out of the gate in the first quarter and never turned back. Haleigh Shea scored eight of her game-high 20 points in the opening quarter for Memorial, which got two 3-pointers from Mel Presseau (13 points) during its monster run. Lyric Grumblatt tossed in 11 points behind Shea and Presseau while 11 of 12 players scored for Memorial. Katrina Krenzer scored 16 points for Dover.

Pinkerton 64, Alvirne 37: In Hudson, Brooke Kane scored 16 points, and Alicia D’Onofrio and Amanda Lemire added 15 each as the Astros improved to 4-1.

Manchester Central 35, Nashua North 33: In Manchester, Katelyn Parker’s layup with eight seconds remaining was the difference. Keltina Francis (13 points) and Lily O’Connell (10) led the Little Green (5-2).

Windham 62, Milford 40: In Windham, senior Kaleigh Walsh led the Jaguars (6-1) with 16 points, while junior Ali Schiebel and freshman Sarah Dempsey both chipped in 10 points. Dempsey added 9 rebounds. Milford’s Breanna deGroot led all scorers with 22 points. The Spartans dropped to 1-7.

Londonderry 69, Exeter 59: In Exeter, Courtney Shay erupted for 17 of her game-high 25 points in the second half as the Lancers (2-4) battled back to overtake the Blue Hawks (4-3). A 19-7 third quarter helped Londonderry erase a wretched second quarter, where Exeter outscored the Lancers 25-12. Ashley Rourke scored all 11 of her points in the second half and Charlotte Sullivan scored 17 overall.

Unified basketball

Manchester Central 46, Manchester Memorial 40: Kyler Anderson’s 14 points led Central, and Jordon Pooi and Taylor Flanders added six each. Camille Robert paced Memorial with 18 points, and Eric Tran added eight. Taylor Dupuis played a fine floor game.
