Proposed retiree restrictions

January 13. 2018 11:40PM

To the Editor: As a retired New Hampshire police officer, I have read the proposed legislative changes with dismay. How does restricting the annual part-time hours of retired employees benefit the citizens of New Hampshire?

Part-time employment has no impact on one's previously earned pension. Imposing these restrictions would deny the state a pool of trained and experienced officers. Is this a sensible course of action at a time when domestic violence and terrorism as well as epidemic illicit drug use are increasing at alarming rates? The citizens of New Hampshire would be losing a valuable resource for no fathomable reason.
