BOSCAWEN — Police said a 31-year-old local man missing for nearly a month was found dead near a snowmobile trail in town.
The New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy on the remains of Steven Woodward, but police officials said they do not suspect foul play.
Family members had reported that on Dec. 19 Woodward had left for work in Penacook, just 10 minutes away from his home, but he never arrived.
An alert was issued to look out for Woodward and police along with family members searched the town and tried to reach Woodward on his cellphone without success.
On Jan. 8, police located Woodward’s car, a 2011 black Subaru Forester that was parked in a secluded area off of Route 4 in Boswawen.
Boscawen Police Det. Jon Adinolfo said Fish and Game and New England K-9 Search and Rescue helped with specially-trained dogs to try and find him.
Four days later, Woodward was found a short distance from where the car was found as a large amount of snow melt had occurred with the warmer weather.
The incident remains under investigation but police said there is no danger to the community.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Adinolfo at the Boscawen Police Department at 753-9124.
