NH Veterans News: Housing for vets to be built in Plymouth

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth is slated to become the home of a new $7 million apartment complex, including 25 one-bedroom units for veterans who are homeless, and five two-bedroom units designated for low-income families, whether veteran families or not.

The project, expected to be completed in the spring of 2019, is spearheaded by Harbor Homes and its Veterans FIRST program.

The 29,000-square-foot Veterans FIRST complex is to be built on 12 acres of land on Boulder Point Drive in Plymouth. Groundbreaking is slated for this April.

Pelham VFW serving Irish-themed meal

PELHAM — The public is invited to an Irish-themed veterans’ benefit dinner, sponsored by the John H. Hargreaves Memorial Post 10722 VFW and Auxiliary of Pelham.

The ham dinner will be served Saturday, March 10, at St. Patrick’s Clubhouse, 12 Main St., Pelham. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The event will feature the O’Halloran Irish Step Dancers as well as a 50/50 raffle.

Admission costs $10 per adult and $5 per child younger than 12.

All proceeds will benefit ­veterans’ programs.

Sweeney Post invites new band

MANCHESTER — American Legion Post 2, Sweeney Post, located at 251 Maple St. in Manchester, welcomes Dr. Harp’s Blues Revue Band for its inaugural performance with the Post on Friday, Feb. 9, from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

The Post is offering cheap eats Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Post 27 elections upcoming

LONDONDERRY — Following are the February happenings at American Legion Post 27, located at 6 Sargent Road in Londonderry.

The monthly general meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 12, and will include elections for the 2018 executive board.

Karaoke with DJ Sharon will be offered Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. Non-members interested in joining Post 27 are welcome.

Post 27 will be playing bingo with patients at the Manchester VA Medical Center Monday, Feb. 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Pizza and soda will be served, and $150 in prize money will be awarded.
