To the Editor: I recently heard Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank chastise New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft for putting 283 diamonds in last year's Super Bowl ring (denoting the 28-3 score against the Pats at last year's Super Bowl.) While I was not surprised with the remark, I must say, "Falcons, this is not about you!"
That 28-3 score:
Is about being knocked down over and over and despite overwhelming odds, coming back.
Is about being picked 199th in the 6th round with few people believing what you know is true.
Is about leaving or turning off the TV at the end of the half because no one's ever come back from such a large deficit.
Is about being told again and again that you're too small, too slow, too untalented to play.
Is about having an aggressive form of breast cancer, missing all of your only son's games except finding the strength to attend the final game of the season.
Is not about the Patriots and the Falcons, it's about us.
So the next time you're knocked down, bullied, not picked for the team, laid off, refused a promotion, or diagnosed with some debilitating disease, remember 28-3.
