NHIAA Roundup: Trinity gets 8th win

Jimmy Kosiarski and Eric Favreau scored two goals each, leading Trinity to a 8-4 Division I hockey victory over Manchester Central/West on Monday night at JFK Coliseum in Manchester.

Anthony DiZillo, Matt Guman and Mark L’Heureux and Nate Arcand also scored for Trinity, which improved to 8-6.

Central/West (1-14) received tallies from George Gatzoulis (two), Sam Hebert and John McNichols.

Trinity led 5-0 after one period and 6-2 after two. Pioneers goalie Ryan Brewitt made 21 saves, to 35 for Central/West’s Jordan Lamarre.

Keene 8, Nashua North/Souhegan 2: Owen Haas, Tim Greenwood and Brian Langevin scored two goals each as Keene cruised past Nashua North/Souhegan on Monday in Keene.

Keene is 10-1-1 in Division II with games this week against Merrimack (today at West Side Arena) and Bow (Saturday at Everett Arena in Concord).

Matt Eskensas scored both goals for North/Souhegan.

Windham 8, Oyster River 0: On Sunday, Nolan Cunningham and Phil Tsoukalas scored two goals each for the Jaguars. Jake Aleksa, Mike Blaschuk, Matt Taylor and Alek Tunik also scored and Max Daly made seven saves for the shutout. Windham improved to 13-2-0 in Division II while OR dropped to 5-6-0.

Merrimack 6, Portsmouth/Newmarket 3: On Sunday, Andrew Frothingham and Matt Warrington scored two goals each to lead the Tomahawks. Zach Stimeling and Hunter Burke also scored for Merrimack, which improved to 4-8-1 in Division II. Portsmouth/Newmarket is 4-9.

Girls’ basketball

Goffstown 56, Kearsarge 46: In North Sutton, Kelly Walsh scored 20 points and Sophia Piriz added 14, helping the Grizzlies improve to 9-5 in Division II. Olivia Brannen and Cami Durham both added seven points for Goffstown, which pulled away in the third quarter after leading by two (22-20) at halftime.

Megan Roy (nine points) and Caitlyn Prescott (eight) led the Cougars (3-11).
