New York City man arrested on ID theft-related charges

A New York City man faces identity theft-related charges after an alert Citizens Bank employee sensed something was wrong Friday when the man tried to open an account, Manchester police said.

Sadi Fofana, 22, was arrested after allegedly trying to pass himself off as an Illinois resident but could not answer questions about information on his ID, police said. The bank has noticed an uptick in fraudulent accounts opened by people claiming to be from Pennsylvania and Illinois, police said.

Fofana was charged with identify fraud and possession of false identification.
