Exeter High's Jackie Gaughan sets regional recordStaff Report

Exeter High senior Jackie Gaughan put another exclamation point on her glorious high school career by setting a New England record in the two-mile run Saturday at the New England High School Indoor Track Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston.
The Notre Dame-bound Gaughan's time of 10 minutes, 9.2 seconds, beating former Newmarket resident Lynn Jennings' New England record of 10:10.5, which she set in 1978.
Manchester West junior Julia Robitallie won the one-mile run with a time of 4:55.22. Robitaille also finished third in the two-mile run at 10:50.18, two spots behind Gaughan.
Milford junior Viankah Williams won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 75 inches.
Senior Anna Harmon of Raymond was fifth in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:54.29.
Lebanon senior Kath Merchant took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 4 inches. Coe-Brown senior Kathleen was Colllins sixth with a throw of 39 feet, 3.75 inches.
On the boys' side, Winnacunnet of Hampton senior Billy Powers won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.4 seconds.
Pinkerton junior Jadyn Ruimwijk placed fifth in the 300 meters with a time of 35.14 seconds.
Windham senior Spenser Sawyer was seventh in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:32.42.
Campbell of Litchfield senior Trevor Gomes took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 5.25 inches, and Nashua North senior David Vorbach took 10th in the two-mile run, clocking in at 9:32.63.
