More than a foot of snow is possible for much of the state today, though coastal areas could see some rain or mixed precipitation, forecasters say.

The storm will move from south to north, starting in the mid-afternoon; it will peak in intensity in the evening hours and is expected to wind up by mid-morning Thursday.

Snowfall predictions are 5 to 10 inches on the coast, 8 to 14 inches in central areas and 6-12 inches in the western part of the state.

School districts across the state — including Nashua, Manchester and Derry — announced early release times for students.
