Burdick for Weare selectman

March 07. 2018 12:05AM

To the Editor: My name is Sherry Hadley Burdick and I’m running for selectman in the town of Weare.

I’m running because I see a need for more transparency in our town government, a board that listens to and respects the information and comments made by its constituents, and one that adheres to all town policies and sees that questions are fully answered in a timely fashion. I will work to encourage volunteerism in our small town, maintaining our rural flavor while taking care of our conservation lands and wildlife. I will listen and respond politely to your concerns and suggestions. I’ll always do my homework before making decisions. I am aware of our taxpayers burden and will work to have an efficiently run town.

Professionally, my background includes 32 years as a manager and engineer. I have actively volunteered as a member of the Weare Historical Society for the past 18 years, being its president for 11 years. I served on Weare’s building committee when it was active for five years. I’ve successfully applied for grants to defray costs on several historic buildings and served as clerk of the works for the renovation and upgrade of the Stone Memorial Building.

I’d appreciate your trust and vote on Tuesday, March 13. The polling place is Weare Middle School from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

SHERRY HADLEY BURDICK
