HOOKSETT — A Manchester man was charged with illegal drug possession after a routine traffic stop on Saturday.
Joseph Stavely, 37, of Manchester, was arrested and charged with possession of prescription drugs without a prescription after a traffic stop for a defective equipment violation, according to a Hooksett police news release.
The traffic stop occurred just before 7 p.m. on Hooksett Road, near Automania. There, the arresting officer, Richard Fosher, reportedly observed indicators of drug use and, after receiving consent to search Stavely’s backpack, found prescription pills that didn’t belong to Stavely.
After being booked by Hooksett police, Stavely refused bail and was transported to Merrimack County House of Corrections in Manchester to await arraignment at the Merrimack County Superior Court. today.
